Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Calculators
The 27S is a "Sleeper". It is allowed in all tests that limit which calculators are allowed. It is NOT programmable (in the traditional understanding) It offers 'Solver'. (It offers VERY ADVANCED 'Solver'). 'Solver' is the ability to specify an equation, and let the calculator derive the relationship of the variables. In your use of 'Solver' you input an equation, 'Solver' digests it; THEN you give values for the variables you know, 'Solver' tells you the value of the other variable (You don't have to rework the equation, the calculator did.) The 27S 'Solver' also allows the use of conditionals, and iterative looping. (Could you write the whole program on one line in C ?) The 27S and 19B have this facility. These two only.
The HP 27s is so cool because it has the greatest solver function ever designed. The LET and GET functions make it so great and i can make solving do things that no other solver can. I write the most complicated and versatile solutions one can with this most magnificent architecture. I wish that they would have never discontinued it.

This is one of the best calculators ever made. It is a "do it all" calculator, including scientific, business, math, statistics and conversions. Unlike many HP calculators, it uses algebraic entry and not RPN. While not strictly programmable, it has a powerful equation solver; you enter an equation, and it will solve for any variable. There are other calculators more powerful in specific areas, but if you need a bit of everything then this is the one for you.

This is the HP27S of my youth, slightly battered around the edges. It's still unique, it's still the best combination engineering and business calculator HP ever produced, and I still wish I had bought more when they were being produced.
