The Gaggia New Baby 2002 is a manual espresso machine from Gaggia's Traditional Coffee Line, meaning they have machines of the same model name that Gaggia regularly updates, mainly the body/controls styling. This machine is constructed of durable ABS plastic and has a fairly compact footprint on the benchtop. It shares a lot of the internals as the Gaggia Classic including the same boiler and pump, has a 3-way solenoid valve for back-flushing, but no OPV. There is no warming plate on top of the machine, as with all the Baby range as it has the steam knob situated on top rather than the side. Though not lightweight, it is not quite as heavy or rigid as the stainless steel constructed Gaggia Classic, hence can flex and slide around a little more when fitting and removing the group handle during the coffee making process if not held, which can be annoying. Using freshly roasted local coffee, with the correct technique, it can make high quality cafe standard cups of coffee. Although this model is approaching 10 years old, if you get one in good condition, I believe it's a bargain. Replacing most of the working parts won't be a problem either, as it shares a lot with the current Gaggia Classic, which hasn't changed a lot over the years. Highly Recommended.Read full review
