Wow, this book is a great read. You actually feel that you are one of these guys about to go off to war. For a young man it would be motivating. He/she would be compelled to instantly run off to the nearest recruiting station. Some parts are a little slow like the Chinese Marine war hero Lt. Col. Carlson who the Corps "palace guard" thinks has communist tendancies sub-plot which is a slower than Book I. Other than that it is a little pricey at $10, but an essential read if you need to know about the Marine Raiders.

This is the second book of the "Corp" series and it continues the story of the Marine Corp at the beginning of World War II. It brings home the story of the men who were there and leavces you wanting it not to end. Fortunately, the series continues through several more novels and I am going to read them all...W.E.B. Griffin tells a great story, wouldn't miss it for the world.

A well written historical but somewhat romanticized story based on the Marines in the pacific in WWII.
