I love the detail that Lynn uses to talk about all kinds of treatment options for children on the autism spectrum - in EVERYDAY LANGUAGE. I just finished Dr. Jepson's book, and it was wonderful, but written for physicians, so it was very hard to understand and follow. Lynn did a great job describing her steps through this process, and it gives me hope that my son can recover as well. This book also served as a verification for me that we were going in the right direction for treatment. Another Mom recommended the book to me because we're searching for all the puzzle pieces, and I'm so thankful that she recommended it.
This book gives alot of information on ABA therapy along with lots of other helpful information. This book also has lots of resource information where you can contact people for information on ABA and other treatments. I wasn't sure how much i would like this book because it was published back in 2000. I was really looking for more up to date information but this book was still very helpful. This book was worth reading.
My wife is a councilor with an organization that cares for Mentally handicapped people and her major focus is on Autism....It was a good source of information at a reasonable price...It is good that such textbooks can be shared, rather than collecting dust on someone's book shelf...and not have to suffer the full price of a new edition...
I loved this book. Before my son was dx'd w/severe autism at 1.5 yrs old,I read this book! Because I read this book before out appointment,I was not overwhelemed w/the autism,I was able to ask alot of questions! Every parent who thinks there child MAY have autism, needs to read this!
