As someone who grew up and "lived" the lifestyle and culture of Graffiti, I found this book to be pretty comprehensive on the subject. Through many interviews and much research, the author seemed to have a firm grasp on the background and history of NYC graffiti, and the artists who created and proliferated the movement. I found it to be an easy read, while helping to shed some light on the underground culture that originated in New York City.

This book looks at graffiti from a civic and social/political perspective. Instead of try and recount the history of subway writing, this book looks at the cause and effect relationship the city of New York and the media played on the direction of graffiti. A tough read at times because it is an extremely cerebral look at the culture.
