I bought it because I've read the entire series (even ones published before I found L.L. in 2008). I absolutely love 'Mercury's War' and have judged all the other breed books by that book's standard. That said, I wasn't so impressed w/ Styx and Storm's story. I loved that Styx is a laid back, cool as a breeze 'Beta-male', rather than a hardcore 'Alpha' that Lora Leigh prefers to pen. It was good to see that not all breeds are male shovinist. I disliked the repetition of his affection for Storm and Storm's avid dislike for breeds. The repetition of these convictions made it difficult to be convinced that she finally loved him, after all his patience and heavy physical attraction; like I said, he was 'Beta', so there was a lot of waiting until Storm finally reciprocated Styx's affections. I liked and appreciated the author's attempt to use this book as a bridge to discovering the mystery behind Bradenmore's research and the constant destruction of breed community by other facets. Also, Cassandra Sinclair's story was developed a little more, but the possible mate was not forshadowed.Read full review
I have been reading the Breeds books and I'm on the 6th one. I have read them out of order and of course they have kept me so entertained that I continue to read them. This book I couldn't put down! I loved the character Styx! Storme was a very good match for Styx and I thought that their story was very entertaining. I have read the other reviews that say that the author kept repeating that her father and her brother were killed by Breeds, and I feel that it was what her mind was constantly on.It was what was driving her to stay alive to find her contact and survive all the madness and make their deaths matter for something. This book is well written and you should read it!

How many times do we have to read: How her dad & brother were killed? How much she hates the breeds because of that? That she can't trust a breed because of that? Every other page? The sex scenes were the other page. The repetition is too much. Give the readers the gist & don't overdo! Decent plot. I found myself skimming over the redo. Not 1 of her best IMO.
