A great statistical record.
This is a sporting work full of summaries of events, many of which occurred before our lifetimes and packed with statistical detail. Books listing Cup winners are a dime a dozen, however very few list the finishing order of all starters and behind-the-scenes anecdotes of the lead-up and aftermath of the event. Rather than something you'd read cover-to-cover in one attempt, this is a go-to record book for research on specific years, horses, jockeys. trainers and owners. The ratings given are personal, subjective ones reflecting my particular tastes and requirements.
