I've read a few books on the enneagram as it relates to personality and I would say that this is probably one of the best. It uses the enneagram to map the process of development that isn't locked into rigid typological criteria - it also give a cogent explanation on what places us where on the enneagram - the last thing is that it incorporates, albeit with subtlety the esoteric teaching of Gurdjieff who was the one who introduced the enneagram to the West.
