WRCE323...thats my GMRC license and you need one to use the GMCR frequencies at full power. It's a no test license and costs $71 for 10 years and is good for your whole family. And this one of the best radios to start with. You won't get the 35 mile range a unless you're on top of a mountain. But I get 1 mile through buildings and 3-4 with no obstructions. Built in NOAA weather is nice. We use these a lot as we're in our motor home 6-8 months a year.

We got our radios two days ago. They look great, charge great and can be used all day on a full charge. Our biggest problem is the headset quality. One headset is already not able to be used, the second headset you can only hear the person part of the time. Again, so far the radios are great. If you're getting them because of the headsets you may be disappointed.

I have 1 older pair of these radios and purchased a 2nd pair because of their usefulness. My wife's 95 y/o father has 1 pair so he can always have 1 with him and his walker and the other in the charger at all times in the in-laws quarters. Of the new pair, 1 is in the main house and the other is in my workshop. They work great on our 6.3 acres. Be aware: 1) the OE battery packs typically need to be replaced about every 2-3 years. I tried aftermarket Li batteries but went back to the OE packs. 2) for longer distance at higher power, you may need to use the GMRS channels which require an FCC license. Otherwise, the FRS channels work well but at reduced range, no license required.

These are excellent radios. While most GMRS radios only have 22 channels, these have 50. Group call and privacy codes top off an already great device. The camo color also looks far more legit than the competitors yellow or orange toy looking radios. I still use my several years older GXT1000 models and expect many years service from these as well.

In this price this is best radio. Only one negative point - a little bit balky. But to get smaller with same features we need to pay a least twice more price.

Seems to be built well. Fits the hand well. I bought the Covert headset to go with it and they work great together. The instructions could have been a little more clear - I had to get someone who already had one to help me through the instructions to get it programed. Other than that, I really like the capabilities of the radio. I never tested it out very far but where I went, it always sounded strong and clear.

very good range even through hilly terrain. we tried to keep them on during the day but if no signal is received it goes to shutoff. Even if someone is trying to call on the same channel it does not have an automatic turn on function, as far as I can figure out. Is it possible to disable the power safe feature? - I love to have the unit stay on, so this way you can call it and find it in case you lost it.

Range is nowhere near 36 miles - but I knew that when I purchased. It more than meets my needs, surprisingly clear, easy to use, and packed with great features. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good 2 way for hunting/outdoor adventures.

They were easy to use and feel good in your hand. I picked up a clear signal from my brother over 2 miles away. I haven't had time to experiment with them at a longer range yet. Overall, I think they are great and would recommend them to anyone.

The Midland GTX100 and GTX1050 are great FRS radios. Range is good, features are rich and they are easy to use.
