This an 2-3 year old corporate laptop. Being a corporate laptop they are very reliable and stable. The Dell e series laptops was one of the biggest selling models for huge corporate and government departments. Most were leased and are now available ex-lease at very low prices. Dell provides a good level of backup and support via their website. Most units were originally sold standard with 3 year warranties. Buyers can check their warranty status online. Dell are usually happy to transfer the warranty to the new owner. Hard drives were fairly small by today's standards, some have only 80GB, most have 160GB. As with all laptops, Hard Drives are the most likely source of faults. Some examples of this model came without the following worthwhile features (check the features listing when buying) - wifi - bluetooth - backlit keyboard Look for the NVS160 graphics cards, with this card the e6400 will play most of the current extreme games. They come with Core2Duo and Centrino CPU's ranging from 2 to 3GHz. Look for the Centrino models 2.4GHz or better. Dell made vast quantities of this model so spare parts are usually easy to find. Original purchase prices ranged from $1,800 to $3,500 I've tested over 100 Dell e6400's and found only a few with faults. mainly hard drives, lcd inverters and speakers. None with any serious problems. With current prices ranging from $200-$400 The Dell e6400 is a very reliable laptop at a bargain priceRead full review
Positive: Excellent outdoor viewing very bright and good contrast; Fast booting with SSD and fast processor; works well with SIM card slot (Mobile Broadband) and LAN WiFi; Good connectivity options. Solid Build. Good battery life (with a 9 cell Battery (about 5 to six hours). Negative: Heavy going with about 3kg. Not very pretty. No USB3 only USB 2.
although old but works fine and screen is clear and boots up fast too
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
Quality is excellent for the age/model of the laptop and delivery. These models are obviously very bulky compared to modern toucn screens, but but rtill capableof running all the word proccessing programs, other ofice programs, connect to the internet
I bought this laptop for school work. It is good enough for that type of thing for the price. Don't expect much from it for games though as the graphics card is only 64mb. The pre-installed OS Win XP needs to be changed to at least Win 7 as Win XP is out of date. I tried to go to Google when I first got it and it kept on crashing, so I had to upgrade to Win 7. Overall this laptop is decent enough for light work. Unfortunately the battery doesn't stay charged for long, so I have to constantly keep it plugged into power.
