There are many reviews online beststowing praise upon the 105mm for its’ focal length, sharpness wide open, the smoothness of its’ out of focus rendering and the build quality that means it’s still available today in large numbers keeping the price to a modest level. And I’d have to agree with them all, a lovely lens indeed!

Hi I Purchased The Nikkor 105mmf2.5 AIS as I along with Many Nikon Users, believe it to be The Ultimate Portrait Lens Nikon ever made. It,s a Wonderful Lens made of Metal with an inbuilt Lens Hood which is retractable/ built in . It is so sharp and crisp,it,s actually described as " A Lens From The Hall Of Fame!. I have used it on various Nikon Cameras both Analouge, and Digitall My Preference is to use it on A Nikon Fm2n A fully Manual Camera and,I may say A Joy to Use ,however it can be used on any Nikon Camera, be it Film or Digital it performs in such a delightful way. It is said to be One of Nikons Finest Portrait Lenses, if you like Me,enjoy Street Photography, then you won,t be dissatisfied. It,s Pure Joy Lens to use. I would recommend This Lovely Lens to any Nikon User.
This is a compact fast telephoto lens with high quality optics, every pro photographer had one of these in there kit bag in the past until the 80-200mm f2.8 came out this meant the market was flooded with these lenses and they can be picked up for next to nothing, I prefer using this lens over the 80-200mm simply because of it's size and speed. This lens the 24mm f2 and the 85mm f1.4 make and awesome combination general usage. The optics in this lens are superbly sharp even at f2.5 and for the price it is a bargain to be had.
Love the images from this lens. Reminds me how I used to take pictures before everything became automated and anyone could take a picture. Beautiful bokeh and very complimentary to the model.
