This book provides a detailed recent, mostly white history of part of NSW that I have lived and worked in over many years. Well written, exhaustively researched, I can't help craning my neck as we drive past Wallerawang, think about the road across the Mountains into Hartley and of course the mighty Pilliga. Places like Coolah, Singleton, Dubbo marshes and the mighty River systems such as the Namoi, Macquarie and Castlereagh. This is the colonialist project but the land on which all this took place was and will always belong to the Dharug, Kamiliroi, Biripi, Wiradjuri and many other Nations. Our recent history is violent and we need to hear our stories that this work tells so well.
