Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Alternator & Generator Parts
I was advised over and over (and over) again to purchase a new alternator (quoted $360). I knew, from a little research and starter motor experience, the breakdown over time of the brushes is the most common cause a failing alternator. I hunted for brushes and finally found them for around $6.00 on Ebay. Very easy to work on the Denso alternator with a 6 screws or so only to remove. I did have to drill two holes in my plastic brush casing, but it was a very simple matter. I simply soldered the brushes wire ends to the casing metal inserts at the drill site, remounted the casing to the alternator and reinstalled the alternator. My alternator works likes new. It took about 40 minutes to remove and replace the alternator and about 20 minutes to drill and solder. All up, one hour and I saved well over $300.00 (including my time!). An excellent experience and time will tell just what a quality material is used in these brushes, however I'd have to wait for the same results when purchasing a new alternator. These are sold as Denso brushes and they cost me around $6.00 (including postage!) and Denso brushes are also in brand-new Denso alternators. A great purchase which allowed me to save a great load of cash!Read full review
