The 2 books are the texts for the automotive mechanics course at TAFE NSW, so I bought them as a requirement of the course. They are quite comprehensive in both the range of topics and automotive areas covered as well as the explanations in each area are excellent. These books were cheaper to buy online than from a book shop but at $200 for both volumes are quite expensive I think. The only thing I dont like about them at this stage is that they are paperbacks and over the course of time will suffer the wear and tear that paperbacks do get. For a book that will be used as a reference book for a number of years , a hard cover would be much better.

I am a trainer and assessor in automotive mechanical, teaching apprentices through Queensland. I have no doubt that Ed May and Les Simpson have developed an up to date, unit by unit, educational publication that enhanses the mechanical industry in the finest detail for instructional needs. I highly recommend this set of 2, for anyone either progressing with an apprenticeship or some one that need up to date mechanical knowledge, or any other mechanical trainers. A great reference book and a must have for any workshop.......
