I think this lens is now superseded. This makes it an excellent opportunity to buy a top lens for a good price. It's action is a bit dated (i.e. pull on the body of the lens to switch between auto and manual focus) and does not have its own focusing motor. However, i did not find this a problem. Focusing was quick and quiet. However, in AF mode, it is essential to use the focus limiter to get yourself into the correct focus range ( or .45m) otherwise it can "become confused". The lens mechanism may be dated but not the the optical properties.
Needed a macro lens and did a little research, the Tamron SP 90mm came out as a reasonably priced lens which produced excellent results. I bought the lens for the best price I could find and after receiving it, have found thatit has lived up to my expectations, having taken some excellent macro shots. As a bonus I also have a 90mm lens.
