Industrial Screwdrivers

Industrial Screwdrivers

An essential tool in any good personal or industrial toolkit, it’s usually a good idea to own a wide range of screwdrivers. From putting together home projects to plying your professional trade, you often need several different screwdrivers for each job. Therefore it’s important you recognise the tools you need and find the right set of screwdrivers.

Blades

Given their industrial purpose, it should come as no surprise that the blades of industrial screwdrivers are usually made from high-quality, hardened chrome-plated vanadium steel. The screwdrivers come in a wide range of blade types like typical industrial slotted screwdrivers, but there are also screwdriver tips that are designed for driving specific types of bolts and screws like industrial hex screwdrivers. Blade tips are sometimes magnetised for added convenience.

Handles

Many brands of screwdrivers feature an ergonomic handle design, to lessen the effects of extended use on operators hands and muscles. As with many hand tools, industrial screwdrivers are designed for optimal grip, utilising textured materials, different grip sizes and roll-off protection. To maximise the amount of torque the user can achieve while minimising fatigue, the handles are made with a large diameter. The handles are also often made of materials that are resistant to lubricants and solvents to prevent workplace damage.

Ease of Use

A crucial feature of all good hand tools is their ease of use and screwdrivers are no exception. Because of the number of tip sizes, blades and grips are detachable to make the grips reusable. However, they all come marked with their tip shape printed on the grip for easy identification. They are also often colour coded by tip shape to make things even simpler.

Case

Generally, the screwdrivers come in sets that include blades of different sizes and with different tips. It makes sense then that they come in a case or bag, both for organisation as well as for transportation. The cases feature internal clips to keep the screws in place, and can often be wall mounted to keep your workshop or toolshed in pristine order.
