Bundt Cake Bliss
Just received this cookbook....all about bundt cakes which are the easiest to make, for me anyway. Most of the cakes featured are favorites in the Midwest as written by Ms. Short. You have your typical vintage cakes like the Quick Orange Kiss and the Tunnel of Fudge to other inspiring cakes like the Chocolate Cherry, Hungarian Cheese-Filled Cake, Apple Butter Bundt and the Coconut Swirl to name just a few that fill this book. There is also a chapter on icings and frostings,etc and even a few recipes for box cake mixes. I collect baking books like crazy, and even if a cookbook has only 4 or 5 recipes that no other book has or are unusual enough, then that is the one book I want. I'll be starting the Hungarian Cheese-Filled Cake tomorrow and I can just read the recipe and know this one will definitely be a winner!Read full review

Definitely in BLISS!
I love this cookbook. I think the layout is great and there are a variety of experience levels within the book, as well as, a wide variety of recipes. One of it's best attributes is that it will say something in the recipe, like use toasted nuts, and then in a side bar it will tell you how to roast nuts. I love that because I am not a professional baker. I also like how some of the recipes use a box cake mix and have relatively easy ingredients. The intro does a great job about discussing the history of the bundt pan and deciphers some conundrums you may have about cake flour vs. all-purpose flour. The writing included with the recipes includes personal stories which make this cookbook somewhat different from my other cookbooks and more interesting to read. Overall, this book was an excellent choice and I think everyone will agree with me once they've tasted the results.Read full review
