Great little camera with lots of DSLR features and a fast lens. I bought this instead of the alternatives because I wanted a camera that could shoot RAW, had a view finder (for use in bright light) and gave me the same control over the image exposure as I would have with a DSLR. The competitors did not have a view finder which was decisive. The focusing is fast, a problem with most of the competitors. It is a solid camera, quiet heavy for its size, and appears to be well made.
I’ve always wanted a g series camera for a number of years.Glad I finally took the plunge and bought a G15,solid camera well built with a great feature set and most importantly takes very good photos.

great camera have recommended it to a number of friends. Can't believe it has HDR for the money that we paid. I also have Canon 5D Mark III that has HDR also four times the money
Lovely camera. Easy for a novice to get fantastic point and shoot results, and loads of great features for professional quality work. The video mode is 1080p, so movies are beautiful quality. Plenty of good youtube tutorials make it easy to learn its huge range of functions. There is a hot shoe for adding preferred flash units if you choose to. The viewfinder is very handy if shooting in bright sunlight, where LCD screens can be problematic. The LCD is large, and clear in daylight. My only complaint is that Canon stopped using the articulated swivel screen, which made using the G12 easy in situations such as shooting from overhead in crowds- but this has kept the camera more compact. An audio line-in would have been fantastic, but I suppose there is a limit to what can be included in such a fine camera at this price point. The lense is superb - the level of detail is excellent, especially if digital zoom is switched off and only optical zoom is used. This camera is hard to fault, and now that the G16 is being offered for not much more than $400 new, a used G15 can be bought for around $300, which is extraordinary value for money. I am not in a position to make comparisons with other cameras, but I am certainly very happy with this one.Read full review
I bought one of these a year ago as a convenient point and shoot alternative to my larger Nikon DSLR. I now only use this for day to day shooting as it is just as good if not better than my D5000 especially in low light. Has great zoom and close ups, and takes great video as well. In the end I brought another two for both of my daughters and saved heaps by buying good used ones on ebay.
