I was expecting something more in depth as far as an analysis of the causes of mental illness. While there are some interesting stories and cases presented, overall I did not for the most part end up with any new great insights into the etiology of mental health disorders. The book focuses on how our attention can be "captured" by internal or external events as such and over multiple exposures reinforce the associated neural pathways. Nothing ground breaking here but if you want a fairly quick read with some interesting examples, its worth your time (the extensive notes at the end of the book I found are more valuable than the actual text.
