I received the honing tool and went straight to the garage to hone out the cylinders in the block I’ve been working on. Honed the first cylinder and thought wow this works pretty well so I started on the second cylinder and about 2 minutes in the whole thing fell apart. I could see the issue was the connectors holding the flexible shaft weren’t crimped in tight enough but because the metal had been bent inward I couldn’t re-crimp it. I drilled out the connectors slightly and inserted the flexi shaft then mig welded the two bits together. After some grinding and rebuilding I was able to continue with the project but only just finished 4 cylinders before the honing pads had worn out. The tool did a good job but I was surprised at the ease it broke and the speed it wore down. You’ll need to order spares at time of purchase if you want to do more than 4 cylinders.Read full review
