Item was better than expected and I was pleased with the discounted price I paid. It was on 'special' and truthfully I don't think it is worth the full asking price. What I paid was the realistic price point. I recommend the item only if you can get it at a discounted price. At 92cm it is quite tall and because it is a little on the heavy side it is very stable. It is of reasonably good quality, but as is the case with most Chinese products, the manufacturing process leaves a little to be desired. I had to clean out one of the holes in the mounting base as the flat washer would not fit into the hole. Note also that the base mount is split (to fit into the box for shipping) and can be a little difficult to manage if you are fitting it yourself (an extra pair of hands would help).

This scratcher is okay asI got it at half price hence my score. I say okay with extreme reservation though. but, be aware that the material may not be sisal or other natural fibres, at best, in my opinion it could be a sissal/ nylon mix. I pulled a few strands and put them to a flame individually and they seemed to burn the way nylon does. I pulled a few more and burned them together, they formed a sticky ball that stretched into threads when I pulled my fingers apart, sounds like nylon doesn't it. Upon further inspection of the entire product I am left with the impression that the thought that went into it's creation was ' how can we produce this product in the cheapest possible way but still make it appear to be decent and attractive to buyers' ? Answer - nylon or nylon/sissal scratching material synthetic 'plush covering 'B' grade chip board (forms the ends & base) and I suspect 3mm MDF board is what the scratching material is glued to add to that only One screw at each end to hold everything together, and the screw holes are not countersunk to make them flush with the surface. The base is the biggest testimony to the total disregard of giving something half decent in exchange for the good money that you are giving them. The base is 2 pieces of chipboard held together by the covering material with a shared screw holes. When this is screwed to the scratching post the only thing holding the 2 halves of the base together is the pressure exerted by the supplied washer upon the 2 half board and as I said the holes are not countersunk sunk so when the boards flatten on the floor surface the exposed screw head has the potential to scratch the floor and/ or wobble. Even for a product coming out of that country (whose name I dare not speak) that is famous for its manufactured rubbish that does not endure, it is a poor effort. Lucky you will get the standard 1 year warranty provided by Australian consumer Law. If I had paid full price ($149.95) I would definately be getting a refund. Even though it was purchased at half price, it's still too much money for what i got. Read full review

I needed something a bit more solid than than the usual scratching post (one of my cats is a bit hefty). This a great size and very stable even when he climbs on it. Great price too.

Hard to knock over. I wish the base was one solid piece of wood not two. But that can be easily made more sturdy with a metal plate and a few screws in the base. At least thats what I've done with mine.
