Assumes the reader has no previous knowledge, so the first half of the book is a bit basic about series versus parallel connections, amps versus volts, and battery safety. So if you are familiar with this go direct to the second half for the nitty gritty satisfying the title. It would be useful to have a section how to measure the MAh capacity of Li-ion batteries, especially the 18650 (yes it can be done), as actual capacities are often much less than claimed. It is also useful to know the capacity of pre-used, reclaimed batteries so you can group them. The author has a college degree in MECHANICAL not electrical engineering, with a background more in electric bikes - so bear this in mind when expecting details in the book. However, there are still some useful ideas in the book, and for the money it is quite good value.Read full review

Great book for making batteries, very helpful for anyone starting or looking at starting to make an electric vehicle. For the small price of the book it can save you a lot of money being the battery is usually the most expensive part of any build. Even if you don't make your own battery it will help you choose the best battery for your build. Micah toll also has ebike school on YouTube this is great help as well.
