Essential Clinical Skills, initially written to match the HLT Health Training Package requirements, has now been updated in close alignment with the updates to HLT54115, as well as the Standards for Practice: Enrolled Nurses (2016) as set out by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (ANMB). The Standards for Practice: Enrolled Nurses provide framework for assessing enrolled nurse (EN) practice and it replaces the National Competency Standards for the Enrolled Nurse (2002), from 1 January 2016. The text clearly and succinctly explains each key clinical skill and provides a structured format for students to undertake many of the skills taught in HLT54115. Each skill is mapped to the key units of competency as well as the Indicators in the Standards for Practice: Enrolled Nurses (2016), where relevant. Using this text, students and instructors are able to translate their skills and knowledge into demonstrable competencies that fulfill the required standards.
