Geoffrey Chaucer was born c.1340, the son of a London vintner. This collection covers not just The Canterbury Tales, but works such as Troilus and Cresyde. He was an active public servant, at various times a diplomat, soldier, customs official, MP, and knight of the shire. He died in 1400.
