I have a number of multi-tools and most are Leatherman brand. What intrigued me about this Gerber is that it looks and carries more like a pocket knife but it goes beyond that. If you could only have a few tools to go with a knife blade you would probably choose screwdriver heads and pliers. That's what this has so it is limited but it has the basic core of what you need. I'm okay with the overall size of the tool as I have read some reviews about it being on the small side but that's what makes it a great EDC because you can carry it easily. It does have a belt clip and if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have bought it. The blade it a utility style and doesn't come to a point. It's half serrated and I can live with that and the upper part of blade is very sharp. There is another style that has the carabiner clip but I would much rather have the rope cutter instead of that. So that's why I got the black oxide as it seems to come with the rope cutter. A much more useful tool to add to the core. If it had scissors it would be a home run and complete but it doesn't. The PROS are that it has a nice look to it. Pocket knife look in appearance. Rope cutter is great. The phillips bit when deployed locks in place and if you open the tool out you can pretty much have both handles spread out to make one long handle to use a screwdriver. Black oxide is nice too. Great value and not an overly expensive item. The CONS are that it while it has good value it does suffer from a little of the craftsman ship that you get in a Leatherman. It's not precision with everything lining up beautifully. The liner locks can be stiff and not always easy to engage. When I first got it I was very pleased with the look. Then I used it and noticed some of the stiffness but I'm living with that because it's a cool tool and I'm finding myself EDCing it over the other higher price tools I have. It comes with a bit of weight and clunky at times but Gerber kept it small enough to not make that much of an issue. If you're use to EDCing a knife blade only and don't like carrying a larger multi-tool you might give this a try.Read full review
