This book is a definite "must read" book for anyone interested in learning to fly helicopters! It goes into comprehensive detail about the aerodynamics of helicopter flight, and also, a very good section on "helicopter emergencies". It also includes "normal" flight training procedures....."rules of the air" that apply to both rotorcraft and fixed wing airplanes. Even if you do not intend to learn to fly helicopters, but are interested in the "dynamics" of how they work, this is a "good read" book. I've had a Private Pilot Certificate...in fixed wing, single engine airplanes for over 40 years, but want to learn to fly helicopters, (I cannot afford to...and never will be able to afford to)...but am reading thisd book anyway and really enjoying it. This book covers the general "layout" and design of both piston engined and turbine helicopters, and tells about the various system they have, including the different type of rotor heads, engines, transmissions, etc. I am planning on taking at least a few lessons ...hopefully in a Robinson R44, (or if not possible..then a Robinson R22)...so I can at least have "helicopter" in my log book. This book has a lot of information in it and is an official FAA publication.Read full review
