Bit tricky putting together as one isn't sure at first how much pressure to apply and whilst instructions are supplied, they are in only one language and the pictures only really make sense after you have put it together. As it's a new smell, don't expect to catch anything straight away rather... Take a Hansel and Gretal approach and leave out tasty and fresh wholemeal bread crumbs leading up to the trap... What you want is to make the rodent comfortable being around the trap. After you notice the bread crumbs disappear, the next step is to set the trap and lead bread crumbs inside the trap but place a large chunk of bread JUST BEFORE the trigger mechanism as you want to give the rodent the idea that it's easy to get tasty goodies inside... Once that has disappeared, the next step is to place a whole peace of bread right inside and leaning against the back wall of the trap as you want to encourage it to run over the trigger mechanism. My first attempt at placing something ON the trigger mechanism failed because the mouse was too tiny to weigh enough to activate the trigger so all it did was lean over and snatch the food and then escape.. The reason for a large piece of bread is because of its weight, that even if the rodent is too light to activate the trigger, once it starts gnawing at the bread, it will cause the bread to fall and inadvertently hit the trigger mechanism and snap the trap closed. Once you have caught something, if you dont intend on releasing it straight away, cover the trap with an old towel or pillow case because rodents are sensitive and stress easily and may die if left startled too long. I caught two rats in this before the door broke, and the third rat escaped. Before it broke, I had expected to catch a few more rats, before they ate through the light weight plastic construction. It is not good enough to be of much use, because it is not strong enough, and a rat will eventually eat though it, to escape, it the trap does not break first.

Trap is useless. Have had two mornings now where rat had entered trap, doors shut trapping rat ( about 7 poops in trap) and both times rat manages to pull the door open (pieces of chewed plastic in trap) and escape before we can get there in the morning. Not fit for purpose

My cats brought a rat inside and I tried numerous times to catch it unsuccessfully so purchased rat trap. It was a bit difficult to set up but caught rat on second night. I would recommend it as once you figure out how to set it up, it does work

However will need to find a food that will attract the rats into the trap. Tried Bread which they eat outside the trap but the rats will not go into the trap, looks like they are smart.
