This is not a John Carre or Tom Clancy story. It is an insiders account of his time at the Pine Gap facility in Alice Springs, Australia. The first four chapters deal with the mission of this facility, the next four discuss world affairs occurring during his tour and implies the role Pine Gap may have played. The last four chapters deal with life in Alice Springs and his transition to life in Australia. It is an interesting read for anyone who has been associated with the work done at the Pine Gap facility.

I watched a documentary on ABC about Pine Gap and became curious as to what it was all about, so bought the book. I liked it because the author explained all about it, but It was hard to understand the parts that were blacked out due to security reasons though this is understandable. I don't know about other books as this is the only one I've read. I think it gave me a much better understanding of the place and now I agree with the author that it is necessary for it to be there.
