I have used the Linksys WRT1200AC as a 'bridge' to extend our wired and wireless network to a games' room. The set up user interface is good. Works well in wired mode. Before that, I tried it out as a VPN router loading ExpressVPN on it. There was a degrade in performance in wired mode but usable. In wireless mode there was a significant degrade in performance to the extent the internet browsing was quite slow. I would not recommend it as a wireless VPN router.
