In the same tradition as The Bridge, and The Killing, this series delivers more punch in 8 episodes than the others do in 10. Set in and around Kiruna, with good scenic shots of both the town and the mine, the series is a mix of whodunit and political thriller which is tightly woven together and backed up by references to current political issues and events that make it informative as well as riveting to watch. The lead characters are Swedish and French, so much of the dialogue is in English, reducing the need for subtitles. Snippets of background are skilfully weaved in to the brief recap that begins each episode, so that the pace of the main story line is maintained throughout. For fans of Nordic Noir, this is a must-see.
