This book provides a complete guide to modelling the Me 262 - the greatest jet fighter of World War II. Developed from a 1938 design by Messerschmitt, the Me 262 Schwalbe (Swallow) was the world's first operational turbojet aircraft. First flown as a pure jet on 18 July 1942, it proved much faster than conventional aircraft. Development problems, Allied bombings and cautious Luftwaffe leadership contributed to delays in production, which did not start seriously until late 1943. On 25 July 1944, a Me 262 became the first jet aircraft used in combat when it attacked a British photo-reconnaissance Mosquito flying over Munich. A wide range of model kits and aftermarket products are detailed and assessed in this volume.
