Why i bought this book?? If you are patriotic, feel there is alack of REAL Aussie heroes, and lament the pathetic, baseless, self absorbed and self concerned role models the media thrusts forth - READ ON I bought this text (amongst many others i have of the same genre), because it is a true story about a real person, who is a real hero. A hero, in my opinion, has and manifests certain qualities - selflessness, self-sacrificing, serving their fellow to their own detriment, pursing a belief for no other reason than sheer conviction and committment to social justice. Very few people fit this category. We have a number of them - real Aussies - the tragedy is that very few people know of them. Read this book - it reads like an Alistair Maclean thriller - which it is - but it all actually happened. Some of our other heroes are: Albert Coates, John Monash (i am absolutely stupefied just how many people know not who he was, and how little is known of him), Fred Hollows - what a human rights champion he was - in action , NOT in word. There are many others - go and find them and read about them.Read full review
This was bought as a gift, however I am confident the book will be well written and reflect much of what Nancy Wake achieved in life.

One of Australia’s finest daughters whose bravery was above and beyond our finest. Never given the recognition that Nancy deserved.
