A powerful story of Famine times covering a very short period of tragic Irish history. The book is thoroughly researched and furnishes factual elements that few others have presented. For a small book it is filled with facts, including various statistics that clearly show the intentional abuse and neglect of the British Empire to which Ireland was then a member of the "Empire". Racism, bigotry, religious persecution and economic exploitation are major elements of this abuse and neglect.
One writer's view of the potato famine. Conveniently leaves out major problems amongst the Irish themselves. Great book for research purposes, just read other books to get a balanced perspective on this dark time in Irish history.
