This just does everything you expect, and more, and does it superbly! Test setup: Anthem 710 receiver (5.2 @ 90W per channel), Wharfedale Obsidian speakers Overview: home cinema quality (4K) for TV, internet streaming, recording, Blu-ray, DVD and CD in one box in an excellent package. It's all managed with a small, attractive remote and a well designed on-screen display. I found it very easy to unpack and install (just connect power, RF in, and HDMI to the receiver), followed the onscreen startup guidance for the setup and wi-fi, and everything worked in minutes. (It automatically found the timezone and time!) The TV guide system and recording feature is a highlight for me. Programs can be recorded from the guide (as a once off, or series) with just the press of a button. Even the remote control is better than most - it's small, comfortable and well organised. The sound and picture quality is superb. I already have a high end Blu-ray player (Oppo-BDP203) and CD player (Marantz CD 5005) and this could nearly replace both of them. With a top quality BluRay, with intense sound and visuals (eg. Frozen) I can hear a superiority in the Oppo component if I listen closely (clearer staging, more "musical", firmer bass), but the difference is for audiophiles and requires the rest of the system to be top-end. Similar observations apply to the CD. For most video there is no noticeable difference, and the Panasonic is my first choice for convenience. Two minor complaints. 1. The Power and Disc Open buttons are flush with the top and nearly invisible. They were very hard to find at first, and even with time can be fiddly. 2. The power-on is slow and the tray is slow to open. One of my best hi-fi purchases!Read full review

All good so far, easy to set up and the quality is fantastic although I did have trouble getting it to pick up all the free to air stations. On the downside the disk eject/ load button is in the most poorly thought out position on the top right front of the player and no it's not a button but touch sensitive. So if you put it with any other equipment such as Foxtel, surround Amp etc make sure you can physically see the top of the unit otherwise good luck trying to find it ( it's also next to the on/off button which is also in a stupid position ). Cheers Tony

A vcr with so many possible possibilities; play and record dvds and bluray, watch tv, play hd cards and usb drives, add another hdd, plus watch netflix or go online. The possibilities are endless. And any of these can be done while it records the next program for you. And with 2tb to play with it will take forever to fill up with programs.
