Parochial Global Europe focuses on 21st century trade policy, which itself is increasingly less about tariffs than 'behind the border' issues, such regulation and standards. Europe's trade policies matter in global politics. Despite the recent focus on Brazil, India, and China, the European Union remains the world's largest market and trader. Yet, we know surprisingly little about how its trade policy is made and lack a sense of the 'big picture' of the Union as an economic power.
