I bought this grinder as an adjunct to a scissor-type nail clipper to smooth down the sharpened edges that the clipper left. It is great for this job, as it is quiet and my dog does not try to get away from it. From it's use, I would say that it would be good for clipping on its own (without the scissor nail clipper All-in-all a good buy.

not very impressed, large and noisy also vibration is very bad, the instructions show you have to lean/sit on dog to use which made me think WHY??? then I put the batteries in and found out WHY!! tried it on small/medium (8-10KG) dogs and found it did file the nail but the amount of nail dust coming out of the shield covered me and the dog so the shield does not stop the dust, it also vibrated and lacked power and has continues speed issues under load, it also on a number of times got stuck on the claw. I then got my 20Kg large dog out and this time I had to hold it down, it is used to the small stone wheel nail trimmer(codos 2-1 recommended for small to medium) for dogs which is literally silent and little to no vibration. but when I turned this Pedi Paws on, the dog nearly knocked me over, but when I did finally get it to sit down I had to put the paw over the unit and put the nail in the groove and put pressure on the nail. it did remove some of the nail but I had to get my more expensive stone wheel nail grinder(codos 2-1) out to smooth and finish the nails on all dogs. would I recommend? YES! and NO!! it worked but power/speed/size/vibration are all major issues. It does remove more nail then codos if you are willing to use for force and pressure but also covers you and dog in nail dust.. 3 hrs later and I can still smell the nail dust.. I would not recommend for cats as the box shows..unless you want to loose an arm or eye. This Pedi Paws nail trimmer is cheaper option but few extra $$ and you can get stronger and smaller unit with stone wheel that lasts longer but this unit does have removable belts that you can buy at local building supplies store, now for the Pro and Cons.. , PRO. - it does remove soft and hard nails (eventually) - drums are the same as rotary tool so you can replace with higher grit or lower grit CONS - size is huge - only one way use - have to use hard tapping for it to be effective - the motor is not strong enough to maintain speed under load - vibration and sound is very high for animal care - shield is not effective to keep nail dust away from you or animalsRead full review

It's a dremel for your pets. All components work which is great. Biggest issue for my own one is that it wobbles quite a bit, too much give. There's scratch marks on the inner side of the yellow cover due to how unstable mine is.

I know the price says cheap, but I was still expecting it to get the job done.... but not 45 mins for each nail, me and my dog fell asleep waiting for it to sand down the first nail. If your dogs nails are made of chalk then this is the product you need!
