Author Biography
Julie White Begany has loved dogs since she was a child. She got her first dog at 7 years old and that was truly the beginning of her love affair with them. When she turned 30 she was searching for a career, one that she could really sink her teeth into (no pun intended). It was a tossup between becoming a hair stylist (she was an amateur cutter since 8th grade), a professional singer (she's been singing since age 4) or a dog groomer. She went with the latter because she figured she could spend her days wielding a scissors and getting kisses by day, and pursuing her music passions by night. In 1994 she went to grooming school and landed in a wonderful establishment where she could spend her days being passionate about the care and well being of dogs and other family critters. She spent 10 amazing years as a professional in the Pet and Grooming Industry and found that she had an affinity for knowing exactly what dogs needed and was touted as the local Dog Whisperer by her clients. She changed the lives of countless dogs and their humans by offering up solutions to any and every issue that came her way, creating lifelong relationships with both. Today, Julie continues to groom on a part-time basis, and she always finds herself giving out dog advice to anyone who asks (and doesn't ask...she just can't help herself!). In her heart, her responsibility is for the animals who cannot speak up for themselves: to be the voice of the dog. In 2011, Julie created Puppy Talk on Facebook, a page that enables her to be in direct contact with her fans to intimately dialogue with them and give timely answers to some of the most common and unique dog questions, from training to food allergies and everything in between. Because of its swift popularity (3200 fans in just 10 short months), she decided to write this book, designed to offer palatable advice and guidelines to both adults and children as they emBARK on the journey from decision to get a dog to applying useful LICKS (tips) once their new PUPPER comes home, allowing her to Educate One Human at a Time.
