I bought a couple of these to replace a failed on-board Ethernet in an HP 8300. It worked fine with no effort. Plugged it in and it worked. Turned out that the problem was with a Linux kernel update not the motherboard, and after a couple more updates the on-board Ethernet started working again. I speed tested this card using iperf against the on-board Ethernet adapters in the HP machine and in a couple of Genuine Intel motherboards. Speed was the same. I also tested it with assorted Linksys, Tp-link, Netgear, and Cisco switches and routers. I got 937 to 939Mb throughput in all tested configurations. If you are old (like me) seeing a $4.00 2 inch x 3 inch card with a single ¼ inch chip that is one hundred time faster than what was once a full size card with dozens of components and cost a couple hundred dollars is amazing.Read full review
