Author Biography
The author was a Navy Chaplain, first in the Naval Reserve and then on active duty (from age 44-60). Prior to active duty service with the Navy and Marine Corps as a Chaplain he was a College Professor and College Chaplain. His active duty career included four sea-going tours, one tour with the Marines and two tours at Naval Bases Chapels. He received numerous awards and commendations including Meritorious Service Medal (with gold star) and Navy Commendation Medal (with two gold stars) as well as medals for service in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. His Reserve involvement was with the Navy and Marine Corps Reserve Center, Lexington, Kentucky with a variety of Active Duty for Training and Temporary Active Duty assignments over a seven year period. He holds a Ph.D. in theology from Vanderbilt University as well as a BA, M.Div., M.S.L.S. and M.B.A. After retirement he returned to college teaching as an adjunct professor in religion, philosophy, business leadership and ethics, and the humanities.
