Yes, these pedals work really good if your going to the SL 3 point system. I use these on my KMX Typhoon Trike. Less foot fatigue. These are safer since I ride a low to ground and if foot comes off at speed it can hit the ground and get dragged under bike frame. Don't need a broken ankle. I think and feel I get better power transfer with these, but the important part is my foot feels better. Rare now is the nerve issue of mashing too hard on the pedals.

As for bang for your buck these are the best in the Shimano line, in my opinion. However, they are bit heavy and they don't rotate into position on their spindle quite as quickly or freely as the 105's (PD-5800) do. I certainly like the 105 better but they're nearly 50% more expensive. So great value for money and I have them on two bikes but you get a hair more features for $25 more if you can swing it.
