I have played few shooters in my lifetime that have compelled me for more than a few stages, as much as i enjoy the thrill of other shooters, the repetition of the stage layouts and recycling of enemies causes me to quickly lose interest in them. One exception to this is Power Strike for the Sega Master System. The graphics are colourful and the stages are beautiful, popping with delicious colour and detail that would be impressive for a early-16-bit title. The enemies are incredibly diverse and pose a difficult threat for your ship, the levels have a fantastic difficulty curve complete with minibosses, huge fortress turrets and a massive amount of flying enemies that spew tons of bullets, all without a single noticeable pinch of slowdown. I thought it would not beat the amazing gameplay of Zanac, but it does just that, the weapons range from semi-useful to incredibly overpowered. There is always a thrill of destroying hundreds of enemies with a massive lazer you accumulated on your journey. i could go on but you get my point, despite the game being in the $100 range, it's worth every cent. This is not the best shooter on the Master System, this is the best shooter of the 3rd console generation. MasterpieceRead full review
