I thought this book was fantastic. I am a first year teacher and am finding myself overwhelmed by the paperwork and politics of an Elementary School. I thought this book was inspirational and showed me that it is possible to be that one of a kind teacher that reaches the students that no one thinks can be reached. The author of this book, Rafe Esquith, is a one of a kind man who has dedicated his life to reaching all of the students he possibly can and giving them the resources they need to find it within themselves to be good people and meaningful citizens. This book is also realistic. Rafe Esquith admits that there are some students he is not able to reach and help. It is comforting to hear that even a man as devoted as Rafe Esquith can't always help every student that comes to him. As a teacher in a low socioeconomic school, this book is a fantastic resource to have.Read full review
I love this book. It has inspired me to find new ways to reach our students in the inner city. When some of my colleagues saw the book, they had either read it or heard about. All reviews positive. Thanks for selling it at a wonderful price.
The reason I bought this book was because as a teacher, I'm always looking for different ways to grab my students attention. The title caught my eye at a book fair so I came home and looked for the book on here. I was looking forward to the new ways to teach. This book does just that. I was pleasently pleased with what I read and this would be a welcome addition to any teachers collection! I would buy again if I needed to.
Excellent book! Esquith gives terrific, PRACTICAL strategies to use in ANY classroom. It covers many different subjects within the classroom setting. Most of his ideas can be used for almost all grade levels. A good book for new teachers, but also for the seasoned teacher who has found herself/himself in a rut.
It is a great book. The ideas in this book are very helpful for parents and teachers to educate kids.
