I bought this book after seeing the author briefly interviewed on tv, talking about eczema, and her book. I have family members suffering with mild, moderate and severe eczema, and we are constantly trying new treatments to reduce symptoms and discomfort. I thought this was worth a read, and upon reading it I was surprised at how much information was presented. I expected the author to simply share her experience, however it is so much more than that - she has studied the topic right down to molecule level, and explains the condition in detail. The information is also 'sectioned', meaning parts of each chapter are clearly practical recommendations, so if you prefer to skip the nitty gritty of the medical text, you can hurry through and just take note of the practical recommendations. I am currently using the book as a study reference and preparing a strict diet for people to try. It is very 'all or nothing' though, which may prove hard to maintain in practical terms. For example, taking a specific supplement and reducing food intake rich in one type of fatty acid ONLY WORKS TOGETHER, so if you are a bit blase and only take the supplement and not reduce the specific fatty acid, you are wasting your time. You need to attempt the diet at 100% and no less. The book is quite full-on, and is a bit of a task to get through, especially if you are making your own notes, but this author has done all your eczema homework for you, and it is worth every cent. I found the content exceeded the price. I'm always hopeful of genuine improvement for those family members, and this is the most promising treatment I've ever seen. I hope it works! I would advise purchasing this book if you are prepared to put time and full, serious effort into the advice and findings.Read full review
A very comprehensive and scientific approach to solving a variety of causes of eczema. Can be a little overwhelming and I found it initially difficult to obtain required supplements in prescribed quantities. Has an almost complete elimination of toxin process which requires a very dedicated (and potentially, initially, a little expensive) approach. Re-reading the book a second and third time made the process seem easier and not so challenging. A very different approach to the traditional 'reactive' ways of treating eczema. Process has no time limit (it depends on how an individual's eczema responds), but it would seem to fall in the range of 3-6 months. Have bought some of the products to support this process, but am awaiting holiday to be over before starting the program - would be difficult to follow outside of own home. Has a linked website, but does not serve very much function. Time will tell if the process will work for me...Read full review
I've been an eczema sufferer for years, so I was keen to try something other than steriod creams. I've been on the diet for a few months now & my skin retains moisture better than it used to, it's no where near as dry. I still have some eczema, but I'm sticking with the diet for a bit longer. The book is very informative with heaps of detail provided. The shopping lists are great as well as the lists of foods to avoid. Worth a try for anyone suffering from eczema, but certainly not a quick fix.
I am so glad i got this book,it has taught me alot of things i didnt know about eczema.Things like foods that may irritate or make the eczema flare up.My three year old son has had eczema since he turned one and we have spent hundreds of dollars on creams that only work for a short time. Now we have changed his diet and ours as the book gives you ideas for healthy eating,my sons skin is healing well.I am very happy with the eczema diet book, its great thankyou so much Karen Fischer for all your info and help me understand so much more about eczema :)
