I do not recommend this book despite its low price. It does not have the dates of the words created, and inconstant definitions of words are neither mentioned. I recommend, if you can spend more, The Oxford Dictionary of English Etymology, which has virtually all of what this dictionary has and much more. If the reason you bought this book particularly is because you couldn't pay further, I recommend the Oxford pocket dictionary - it, like this book, doesn't include the words "princox" or "posterity", but it does signify the cycle the words listed were first recorded in the English language, and its changing glossary. This is useful as it assists me in ridding of "modern" (I consider after 1550) English-language terms, such as "propaganda", "technique", "Internet", "automatic", all of which I loathe - or who altered the definition of "savage" from 'growing wild', to to-day, 'uncivilized'; though savages are those first who use such jargon. And all of which were and still are being created by a certain people who I will not refer here, in an endless attempt to destroy the English language, of Englishmen. I will write no further on this here.Read full review
