Author Biography
Miguel Torga (1907-1995) was imprisoned for his opposition to the Salazar regime. He later rose to an unrivalled position in modern European literature, with fifty published works to his credit, including poetry, fiction, plays, journals, essays and stories. He received several international awards, was twice been nominated for the Nobel Prize, and his work has been translated into most languages. This title is in Carcanet's series From the Portuguese.
