I really like the Tony Hill - Carol Jordan partnership in the Val McDermid books and the continued development of their working partnership and personal relationship in this book is interesting. But if you're expecting graphic violence, then you'll be disappointed in this book. Tony doesn't get into the head of this killer - there are other things going on in Tony's life this time round, and Carol has a new boss who doesn't warm to the use of non-departmental profilers - and the story follows more of a police procedural tack rather than a pyschological tack, but on the whole this is a good and well worked thriller whose twists are teased out expertly, and it is still a great read, all the same. Highly recommended.

This is the second book of val mcdermid and it was so engrossing I could not put it down, it was just as good as the previous book and would recommend it as a fantastic read. The story is great and the characters are so real, would say it is up there with the best books.
