What would you do if you found a packet of old letters held together with an antiquated rubber band? Especially if you knew they were written during the Second World War by a young man who turns out to be your father? Would you read them, or would you hide them from sight, like I did? The Letters is just a handful of real letters written by a young Army Air Corps officer in the final months of WWII. I read them for the first time as I wove a story that made me laugh and cry along the way. Not only do they open a window into a relationship that endured for almost seventy years, the letters helped me gain insight into the how and why of my inner demons.
