A sequel to Kushner's novel "Swordspoint", this is the tale of Katherine, a young girl whose uncle, the "Mad Duke Tremontaine", snatches her from her quiet life in the country and sends her to school to be a swordsman. Katherine masters the sword and all the nuances of the art of fencing, eventually becoming a magnificent duellist who astonishes the nobles and peasants alike because not only is she superb at her art, but she is a beautiful woman besides. And, interestingly, her uncle is a very familiar character from "Swordspoint", as is her tutor at swordsmanship. With its continued adventures of the main characters from the earlier novel, plus the added tale of Katherine, Privilege of the Sword is a fun, engrossing story and I highly recommend it.
