What an extraordinarily brave and insightful book!!! This media culture is terrifying. This book tells the truth, a rare commodity in the media and the world these days. So so so so clever. Thank you Kerry-Anne Walsh. Thank God for individuals who refuse to drop their standards. This book has changed the Australian culture. Read it, really read it.

Firstly I am an incredible fan of Julia Gillards . I believe we lost an amazing chance when we lost this women as our PM. I blame Rudd entirely, Tony Abbot was merely opportunistic . What I expected from this book was firstly, something I hadn't already read, secondly something more than how badly done by Julia was. I wanted to hear and have a record of all the great things she did. A real balanced look at the woman. This book is way too partisan even for me, and I love Julia. But I want to see her as a person, warts and all. This is an opportunity lost. The only reason I am even giving it a 3 is the subject matter. Suggested reading only for hard core Julia supporters. It gives way too much ammunition to others :)
The subject matter, and indeed the title of this book leads the prospective reader to believe that at the very least "The Stalking of Julia Gillard" will be an engaging read. Furthermore the author Kerry-Anne Walsh is someone who brings credibility to the topic with her experience both as a journalist and her involvement in Australian politics. Unfortunately Walsh has let herself down with this piece of work which on all accounts should have been insightful and fascinating as it covers arguably one of the most tumultuous periods in Australian politics. Walsh clearly had a bee in her bonnet with colleagues whilst undertaking the task of writing this book as her comments appear to be personally driven and even at times childish. Her lack of referencing reduces the creditability and professionalism of the work, although she direct quotes throughout the book. I would certainly not be in a hurry to read any other books by Walsh, nor would I recommend this book to anyone who is seriously interested in the subject matter or is accustomed to reading very professionally written pieces of work by other journalists.Read full review
this book was confirmation of what i expected, both kevin rudd and tony abbott must stand in shame for robbing australia of this magnificent woman whose compassion and farsightedness should have marked a surge of both prosperity and genuine caring in our once great country! rudd for allowing his ego to overtake his intellect and abbott for his bloody minded sexist win at all cots people mean nothing approach to securing the job for himself! i reccomend this book to those who dont really know what went on, being an active alp member i caught a wiff of things from time to time!
