The book is nicely laid out and illustrated. I purchased it after downloading many of Tyler's recipes off the Food Network's website and fell in love with his style of cooking. I am disappointed however that there is so much valuable space taken up in the book by empty page area and the print is so large that more could have put into this book by using a more reasonable size font. Overall, I'm glad I didn't overpay for my copy.
Tyler writes hands-on recipes using basic ingredients that you could find everywhere. The book is divided into courses; from appetizers, seafood, beef, poultry dishes, up to the salads and desserts. The beautifully snapped photos also help one to imagine how easy ingredient can make beautiful dishes.
The cook book makes me feel like a gourmet chef. The recipes are fantastic. Best part is, besides getting to eat your yummy creations, is that the dishes are fairly simple to prepare. Some of the ingredients are normal not stocked in my kitchen, but I want to go get them. I haven't been disappointed with one of the recipes yet. The extra effort to go to the store, for the fresh cilantro, basil, thyme, swordfish, or whatever he is calling for the particular dish I making, is for sure worth it. It has changed the way I want to cook. It has helped me become a chef! My family thanks Tyler, as do I.
I love Tyler Florence and his "ultimate" recipes. The book has lots of great recipes. They are not complicated or call for ingredients that can't be found in local markets. I saw him on Oprah and was impressed with some of his simple ways to make common food great. One example is the rolled stuffed turkey breast and his "ultimate" beef stew is the best stew I have ever made.
This book is a great addition to my collection. It has easy to follow recipes and big awesome color pictures. If you watch Tyler on the Food Network, you know that he keeps his recpies simple, exciting and Ultimate!
